The Ram traveled down route 8 to Fairfield for a rare Friday night quad and returned home with two impressive wins. BC defeated Westhill High School 51-23 and Fairfield Prep 57-13 but fell to the 7th ranked team in the coaches poll Fairfield Warde 42-20. The Rams scored 4pins and 3 tech falls against Fairfield Prep and 7 pins against West Hill but only had one pin against a tough Warde team.

Down two wrestlers due to injuries the Rams wrestled as a team to defeat Platt HS 37-30. Platt took an early lead winning the first 3 matches with a pin and 2 decisions. ( Platt12- BC0). Geno Rafaniello (182), Jeri Hoxha) (195) and Cy McIntosh (220) put the Rams ahead with 3 consecutive pins. TheRams never trailed again. Fourth Place at the Greater Hartford Invitational

The Rams finished 4th in the fifteen team Tournament held at Hall High school. Southington finished first followed by Newington and Conard. Matt Trelli (120 pounds), Nathaniel Gonzalez (160) and 195-pounder Cy McIntosh Made it to the finals but only Trelli claimed a Individual Championship.

The Central 120-pounder scored a 19-7 major decision over Conard’s Sam Mendal before needing just 1:42 to pin Southington’s Alex Richardson in the semifinals.

Trelli wasn’t satisfied with just reaching the finals. With a score midway through the third-period, Trelli took a 3-1 advantage and held on for the victory.

“Trelli is starting to come into his own and is starting to show that he can do some things,” Archibald said. “He’s been working hard and listens. He listens to what the coaches have to say and then goes out and there and does it.”

“Honestly, my expectations were to do a little better. But maybe that’s just what we are right now,” Archibald said. “But we had all but three or four kids place, and three guys make it to the finals, so I can’t complain about that.”

Zach Mastromarino (125), Tyler Burrow (132) and Connor Hayes (138) wrestled backed after losing in the Championship Round to all take third place.

The Rams are back in action on Wednesday at home against CCC South rival Platt.

Ledyard won going away placing 10 wrestlers in the finals with 253 points. Farmington was second with 199.5 Bristol Eastern was third and Bristol Central took 4th place. Randy Boyne (152) was the only Champion for the rams. Rob Pedrazzo (BE 126) won the fast falls award with 4 pins in 10:02. Scott Lamarre (160) from Terryvillle was the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. He defeated Alex Manwaring Defending State Champion and BC Champion from Ledyard in the finals.

BC Host Tournament Teams from Ct, Ny, NJ

The Rams must be ready for this weeks tournament that has 3 teams ranked in the Connecticut Poll, a veteran Mohonasen, N.Y team, and Gloucester Catholic from NJ. Ledyard, Farmington and Bristol Eastern (2011champions) are all ranked in this weeks top 10 Norwich Bulletin coaches poll. BC was named #12 in the poll. There is some great competition at BC this weekend.

The Rams fresh off a win over Maloney need to pay attention to details in preparation for the weekend. Coach has constantly said you wrestle how you practice. It is time for the Rams to finish there moves and put in two days of hard work if the plan to contend. Ledyard 4-1 and Farmington 7-0 are coming in looking to win. Bristol Eastern is again having a good year and wrestling in year-end form. All this leads up to an exciting weekend of wrestling.

BC 42 Maloney 18

The Rams started out trading bouts but finished strong to capture a 42 to 18 win over league rival Maloney. Tyler Borrows lost a close match at 132 to give Maloney the early lead. Connor Hayes tied the match with a decision at 138. Maloney than went out to a 9 to 3 lead with a pin at 145. BC never looked back from that bout on to secure the win.

SECOND IN SOUTHINGTON DUALS

The Rams defeated Conard 43-29 and Winchester, Mass. 34-26 to reach the finals of the Southington Duals Saturday. Winchester was the Duals defending champions and it was a match that featured 3 overtime bouts. Central won by outlasting the seasoned Winchester team.

In the final Central did not have enough in the tank to defeat Southington. Central won more bouts than the Blue Knights but gave up more pins. Final score Southington 33 BC 28.

The rams will travel to Maloney Wednesday in a key league match.
